" Gaslight" by Patrick Hamilton
This classic Victorian thriller is a masterpiece of suspense that is full of intrigue and surprise with stunning effects and a tale of twists and turns. Jack Manningham is slowly and deliberately driving his young wife, Bella, insane. Why? Despite his cunning and deceit, his success is thwarted with the arrival of semi-retired detective Rough, who believes Jack to be a thief and murderer. Aided by Bella, and the housekeeper Elizabeth, Rough proves Manningham's true identity, but will this save Bella?
